What the Joker exactly wanted?

he just wants to play, and have fun in a psychotic kind of way. he don't even want to kill batman, even if he had many opportunities in the past to do so because he knows batman is the only obstacle and that makes it fun for him. in the story no man's land, he stated there that he just wants batman's attention.
