Do finches use shredded paper to build a nest?

Finches use many items to build a nest. I've seen finches use feathers, shredded newsapaper, pieces of millet, hair, tissue paper, twigs, and string to build their nest. Finches can also use shredded burlap, moss, or plant down (from thistles or dandelions). If your finches live in an aviary, they can build a nest on the branches of non-toxic plants. There are many plants, such as ferns and palms, which can be placed in the finch aviary. Bamboo, chickweed, and dogwood are more safe plants. Make sure to have a variety of nesting materials and sizes available that your finches can choose from to build a nest.
