How did the enlightenment influence leaders of the French Revolution?

The ideas of Locke, and other Enlightenment era philosophers had many theories on government. Locke's, probably the most influential gave man the rights to life, liberty, and property which to this day are used in many doents. This is one of the things which push this revolution as well as the American Revolutionary influence.
