Christian creationism vs. Mythology?

Creationism is very much an American phenomenon. It is not at all common in other nations Christianity. Even when you do see it outside of America it is mostly in American Evangelical and Pentecostal style of churches. It's origins can be traced back to the book blockades in the War of Independence when a whole generation in the fledgling USA were deprived a literary education and so had no real understanding of basic written forms like metaphor, symbolism, allegory, myth cycles etc... This had echoes theologically down to the beginnings of the "fundamentalist" churches in the 19thC.
